You may not yet be ready to travel again – but we are!

The Dickinson team is ready to get going and well positioned to reach clients across the globe: in addition to those of us based at the galleries in London and New York, we work closely with consultants throughout Europe and in China. Art fairs may be digital-only this year, but in recent weeks we have seen auctions return to the physical sphere, with pre-sale views open to (mask-wearing!) visitors and even a chance to attend live sales. The online offerings are plentiful, but as we’ve said before, nothing can really compare to viewing artworks first hand. And if your current circumstances – whether for health reasons, or logistical challenges, or simply preference – prohibit travel to view artworks first-hand, we’re here to act as your eyes in the saleroom, in the gallery, and elsewhere.

Moreover, our evaluation doesn’t end with our eyes: we can give you the complete picture, so to speak, of an artwork’s condition, check that all necessary expertise is in place, compile market comparisons in order to gauge value, and advise on an artwork’s future investment potential so that you can feel confident in your acquisition. Dickinson specialists are willing and able to travel safely, and have already undertaken trips this summer in order to evaluate artworks and bid successfully on behalf of private collectors. Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’ve been pondering that Picasso, or considering that Canaletto, and you want to get a closer look without leaving home: we’re here to help.

Dickinson specialists are also very happy to bring our expertise, safely and conveniently, to your home. In past years, we have relied on art fairs for the opportunity to catch up with longstanding clients and to meet new collectors. If you have artworks you are looking to evaluate, take advantage of our no-cost, obligation-free service, and let us give you an idea about current market values. If you are comfortable with a visit, our specialists are prepared to travel to you to view your collection and discuss potential consignments (or your wish list for new acquisitions!) – with social distancing measures in place, of course.

We hope 2021 will see a return to bricks-and-mortar art fairs and lively auction salerooms, but until that happens, we’re here to do all the travelling and viewing that you can’t. So get in touch and put us to work!
