Dickinson Gallery presents Beauty Shared: A Collector’s Vision

Dickinson Gallery is delighted to offer for sale a comprehensive private collection of 20th century paintings, drawings and sculpture. Assembled with passion and knowledge over three and a half decades, the collection will be shown concurrently across two venues: Dickinson’s stand at TEFAF New York (3-7 May, Park Avenue Armory), and their gallery at 980 Madison Avenue.

‘Beauty should be shared for it enhances our joys. To explore its mystery is to venture towards the sublime.’ (Joseph Cornell)

Drawing from the collection of nearly 100 works, the gallery show will feature a Cornell room as well as works on paper and sculptures by artists such as Kandinsky, Ossorio, Diebenkorn and Picasso. At TEFAF, Dickinson will showcase paintings by modern masters including Dubuffet, Tàpies, Morandi and Fontana.

Beauty Shared: A Collector’s Vision evokes the pleasure of collecting over decades. The diversity of objects reflects the taste of the connoisseur, who chose each individual work because of a connection or personal response to it. Emma Ward, Managing Director of Dickinson, observes: “It is an honour to be able to offer for sale this single owner private collection which has been loved and lived with over the years. Our aim is to bring the collection to life as well as to enhance each individual artwork. Through international presentation of the works, we will tell a story of a private collector’s journey and capture some of the ambience of the original domestic setting.”
