Last night Dickinson Gallery hosted representatives from Hunters law firm, one of the main sponsors of London Art Week, for a seminar and drinks reception to kick off London Art Week Winter, which opens today. From 3pm today through 8 December, we will be showing “Dickinson + Lennox Cato, Form and Figure: Paintings and Furniture, 16th – 20th c.” in our ground floor galleries.
The well-attended evening seminar, “LAW and the Art of Collecting”, saw experts from Hunters, joined by Lennox Cato and Dr. Molly Dorkin, present some of the most salient legal and scholarly issues that arise when works of art are bought and sold. Hunters offered “Ten tips for buying art”, as identified from a legal perspective, while Lennox and Molly explained the importance of due diligence, solid expertise, thorough provenance research and the value of establishing a trusted relationship with a reputable dealer. The presentations were followed by a question and answer session and drinks reception.
Dickinson will be open throughout LAW, between 1st and 8th of December, from 10 – 6pm.
