Simon Dickinson

Director, Simon C. Dickinson Ltd.

Prior to founding Dickinson with David Ker in 1993, Simon Dickinson was Senior Picture Director of Christie's in London, where he worked for over twenty-four years. He joined Christie's in London in 1968 and was appointed as the firm's youngest ever director in 1974, specialising in Old Masters and British Pictures. During his tenure there he was Head of British Pictures and Senior Director of Old Masters. He was also responsible for overseeing and carrying out all Christie's picture valuations of Britain's country house collections as well as museums and institutions. He continues to carry out valuations for many established and new clients. Known for his exceptional eye he has made a number of important re-discoveries of lost works including paintings by Botticelli, Titian, Poussin, Watteau, van Dyck, Constable, Claude Lorraine, Guido Reni and Hendrick Goltzius.
